In the Windows app, a scan checks up to 300 homepages, four at a time. Each check is one ordinary page request, like a visitor’s, with an 8-second limit.
What it notes
- Whether the site uses HTTPS with a valid certificate
- Whether the page is set up for phones (a mobile viewport)
- Booking links: 46 booking services, and “book online” words in six languages
- The copyright year in the footer
- The page title and description
- The website builder the page names, and its links to social pages
- The page size, and how long it took to load from your computer
What it doesn’t do
- Run Google’s speed test. Use Site speed or a website audit for that
- Read other pages, fill in forms or sign in anywhere
- Open addresses on private networks
A full website audit
Run audit in a profile, or Website audit in Tools, runs every check together: Google’s speed test on a phone and a computer, Email health, Site technology, Site history and, in the Windows app, a read of the site itself. It grades the site from A to F, scores each section, and lists fixes and pitch lines built only from what was found.
In Tools, audit any website address, or a whole scan, a market or a selection with Audit several.
A check that doesn’t answer adds nothing to the grade. Site technology and the read of the site need the Windows app. Demo businesses get an audit built from their demo data, with nothing checked, and it says so.
When checks stop
After six network failures in a row, the scan stops checking websites and keeps the listings. One bad connection won’t ruin a scan.
